Great wisdom from my friend Chris Voss of the Black Swan Group – Excellent perspective on conflict. Contact me at SusanThomson@actionCOACH.com
Many people don’t realize that negotiation and conflict resolution aren’t just about winning deals—they’re about relationships. Strong ones. The kind that holds up under pressure and lasts the test of time.
We live in a world where people would rather argue, cut ties, or one-up their “opponent” every time conflict shows up. Collaboration? Forget it.
The truth is, conflict isn’t the problem. Conflict is an opportunity.
It’s a chance to build better communication, foster understanding, and strengthen relationships. When you see it that way—and when you’re willing to improve your skills—it changes everything.
Because let’s be real: life’s full of conflicts. You can’t avoid them. But if you don’t learn to handle them constructively, life will feel lonely. Very lonely.
So, next time you hit a bump with someone, don’t avoid it or go on the attack. See it for what it is: a moment to connect, to listen, to find solutions together.
